ASSISTANT PROFESSOR, FILM AND MEDIA STUDIES PROGRAM

STANFORD UNIVERSITY
DEPARTMENT OF ART & ART HISTORY

Stanford University's Film and Media Studies Program is seeking 
candidates for a tenure-track Assistant Professorship with an emphasis 
on the field of Asian cinema, including East Asia (China, Japan, Hong 
Kong, South & North Korea, Taiwan), South-East Asia (Vietnam, Thailand, 
Malaysia, Philippines), and South-Central Asia (India, Iran). The 
appointment is expected to begin September 1, 2006. Candidates must 
also be able to teach a range of core courses that emphasize issues of 
aesthetics, history, cultural study, and critical theory. The Film and 
Media Studies Program, part of the Department of Art and Art History, 
welcomes scholars committed to excellence in research and publication 
and to creative teaching on both the graduate and undergraduate level.

Experience: Applicants must have a completed doctorate in hand by the
