The Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures of the University
of Notre Dame invites applications for a tenure-track position in
Japanese
at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning in August 2006. Primary
teaching responsibilities consist of four undergraduate courses each
year,
including one seminar for freshmen on a topic of the instructor's
choice.
Area of specialization is open, but preference will be given to
candidates
who can offer courses in modern literature, film, or popular culture.
Candidates must have the Ph.D. in hand by August 2006, native or near
native fluency in Japanese and English, excellent teaching skills and
evidence of an active scholarly agenda. In addition to a CV and a letter
of application, candidates should have three letters of recommendation
sent separately by your recommenders or institution. All materials

Notre Dame, IN 46556. Initial screening of applications will begin
November 15 and continue until the position is filled. The University of
