Geisha films

Dear All,

I'm preparing to co-teach a course on samurai and geisha in Japanese literature and film.

I'm wondering which geisha film in particular people have found to work well in the classroom. SISTERS OF GION is a definite yes, and later Mizoguchi's could work as well (STREET OF SHAME).

I'd appreciate your thoughts on film titles you have found effective--as adaptations of major literary works, in terms of conveying particular views of the geisha themselves, and/or by extension women's place in Japanese society.

Thanks for any thoughts you care to share!
Matthew
