I think the inclusion of comics is far more important - in Japan - than 
videogames. Manga - Japanese comics - are what I like to call "the 
great generator of Japanese popular culture." There are countless 
examples of movies (both anime and live-action), TV shows, CDs, games, 
fashions, and more that can trace their lineage back to manga. I think 
it is worthwhile to acknowledge that.
