It's true that Death Note is produced by Warner Bros., but it's still 
made with a Japanese Cast and released in Japan (in two parts 
none-the-less!). I don't think it's possible to consider it a remake 
since only the manga has been released so far. The two movies will be 
the first spin-offs from the original manga story.
