Job Announcement

The Screen Studies Program in the Department of Visual and Performing
Arts at Clark University seeks to hire a tenure-track Assistant
Professor in Screen Studies with expertise in national cinemas in a
global context to begin in Fall 2007. Candidates must also be able to
teach a survey of world cinema plus a range of general courses in film
and media studies. A PhD is required. Clark is a private liberal arts
university committed to excellence in teaching as well as research, and
ideal candidates will have demonstrated potential in both aspects.
Visual and Performing Arts is an interdisciplinary undergraduate
department that also includes studio art, art history, music, and
theater arts, so candidates are expected to explore innovative,
cross-disciplinary subjects with other department faculty. Screen
Studies offers a major and a minor, and maintains a connection with
Clark’s program in Communication and Culture.

Review of applications will begin November 1, 2006. Please send a cover
letter, CV, a recent writing sample, a syllabus for a relevant course,
and three letters of recommendation, to Benjamin Korstvedt, Chair,
SCREEN SEARCH, Department of Visual and Performing Arts, Clark
University, 950 Main Street., Worcester, MA, 01610. You may also send
email inquiries to screenstudiessearch at clarku.edu. For further
