This is wonderful news. Does this mean it will appear in hardcopy Mark, or
as a pdf, like the Noel Burch reprint?

publishing Aaron Gerow's book-length analysis and historiography of Page of

the next year or so. It's very, very good.MarkusOn Apr 2, 2007, at 8:45 AM,

about the reasons why Criterion didn't want to put the film out... Dean

screening / restoration might finally lead to a DVDrelease. Its always
amazed me how this was never available (grey market aside) on video/dvd in
Japan, and there was clearly good reasons why no onelike Criterion had put
it out, given the films reputation and historicalimportance. This just played
in Bristol about a fortnight ago, along with a live accompaniment from some
crazy jazz drummer and preceded by a screening ofSerene Velocity. I'm not
sure if my wife has forgiven me for dragging heralong to the event yet, but
hell, I enjoyed it!Jasper --------- Original Message --------From:

Special Screening Date: 01/04/07 14:48> As a special event to mark the
Tokyo meeting of FIAF (FédérationInternational des Archives du Film), the
National Film Center and AsahiShinbun (Asahi News) are sponsoring a special
screening of a newly restored A Page of Madness. The event will take place
at Asahi Yuraku-cho Hall onSunday 8 April, 2007 at 19:30. (All seats
reserved.) This new restoration issimilar to the print currently in
circulation; both derive from a print of the film found in Kinugasa's house
in 1971, a print that is believed to be ashortened version of the 1926
original. This new restoration, however, returns the film to the original
aspect ratio common in the "silent" era, 1:1.33 The screening features piano
accompaniment by TakahashiYuuji.-----Jonathan M. HallJapanese Film, Media,
