As I wrote in my self-introduction, I am actually working on a thesis about parody in general and the figure of Takeshi Kitano in the movie "Getting Any?" and his 90's shows like takechan-man, genki wa deru tv,... ( e.g parody of "Shichinin no samurai" or "Zatoichi" ).
I have made some research on the status of parody in Japan but unfortunately I haven't found a lot.
Bowyer Justin, The Cinema of Japan and Korea.
Burch No?l, Pour un observateur lointain : forme et signification in le cin?ma japonais.
Mes Tom, Sharp Jasper, The midnight eye guide to new Japanese film.
Richie Donald, Schrader Paul, A hundred years of Japanese film.
Sato Tadao, Currents in Japanese cinema.
Basically, all I have found is some directors or movies who use the parody process just for a scene and do not apply it on the whole movie for instance Seijun Suzuki, Takashi Miike, Ryuhei Kitamura,... I wanted to know if there is/are Japanese movie(s) or director(s) who are specialized in parody, what i mean is if there is a Japanese Mel Brooks?
Cheers,
Sebastien Hurlet.
