Japanese films logged a record 107.75 billion yen in box-off
ice takings in 2006, outpacing those of imported movies for 
the first time in 21 years, the Motion Picture Producers Ass
ociation of Japan said Tuesday.The Japanese film boom also b
oosted the number of films released to a record 821 in the r
eporting year, up 90 over the year before.
