I just wanted to add another important film to Roland's impressive list; that is, Paisa (1946) by Rossellini, which was released in Japan September 1949 to my konwledge, and having read some contempoary articles on Italian neorealism, this film was referred often as the influential example. At least in Japan, Paisa was better and proirly known than Roma Open City.

> For some reason Visconti's early films haven't been shown in Japan in the 1950s. Japanese audiences had to wait until retrospectives in the 1970s and 1980s.
