Hara Kazuo and Kobayashi Sachiko are going to be bookending their  
appearance with Michael Moore in Ann Arbor with screenings in Chicago  
and New York.

Many Faces of Chika

(Mata no hi no Chika)

2004, 114 min., 35mm, color.  In Japanese with English subtitles.

During the 60s and 70s?an age of rebellion and revolution in Japan?  
Chika flees from her ailing husband and infant son in search of  
independence, only to be met with betrayal, disappointment and  
loneliness. Four different actresses play Chika, as she wanders  
through the city, country and seaside with four different men. The  
film will be introduced by director Kazuo Hara and screenwriter/  
producer Sachiko Kobayashi.

DISCUSSION

In a conversation with Village Voice film critic Ed Halter, Hara and  
Kobayashi will discuss their controversial documentaries and  
transition into feature filmmaking. Since 1972, Hara and longtime  
partner, Kobayashi, have been working together on making ground- 
breaking documentaries such as Goodbye CP (1972), Extreme Private  
Eros: Love Song 1974 (1974), and Emperor?s Naked Army Marches On  
(1987).  Followed by a reception.
