obtaining recent Japanese Film for cinema projection

Hi John,

Welcome to the list.

Here's a question I do know something about, as I've had a hand in quite a
few Japanese film screenings in the UK recently. It depends what you want to
do, but if you are talking of one-off screenings or for a weekend special,
as opposed to acting as sole UK distributor for a fixed term of several
years, then it certainly isnt as expensive as Eija mentions - you won't need
to buy the print for example, just pay for print shipping (I say "just", but
actually this is over $500 to physically get a film from Japan to the UK, so
quite an expensive endevour), then pay the screening fees - how much depends
on the company you are dealing with, with some being quite unreasonable.

There are various options to facillitate the whole process, so perhaps if
you contact me off-list and let me know more exactly what sort of thing
you've got planned, I can give you some further tips.

Best,

Jasper Sharp
