Just back from the Udine Festival, which felt like vacations after the busy and tight-sceduled Nippon Connection Festival, I'd also like to express my gratitude to Marion, Holger and Alex as well as to the countless volunteers for putting so much effort into organizing the Nippon Connection Festival and hosting the Kinema Club conference this year. It was actually the fifth time I visited the festival and it is amazing to see how it has developed from a rather small and local festival to a very big international event. To organize the Kinema Club conference at the same time was a wonderful idea (Alex I admire your strength and stamina), because it allowed to talk about Japanese movies in the morning and to watch them in the afternoon and evening with several filmmakers at hand, too. What I've missed a little bit was an opportunity for all conference attendants to come together at once - I was happy enough to finally meet several members in person at the sections I attended, but there were others I never encountered, for they obviously were always at the parallel section. I nevertheless enjoyed very much seeing old friends again and making new friends and I'm looking forward to the next Nippon Connection festival and the next Kinema Club conference.
