Kyoto Film Industry Question

A friend is wondering if there is any writing in English on the Kyoto 
film industry; he seems to be especially interested in stuff on old 
jidai-geki.  He's looking for any English-language writing on films 
produced in Kyoto, the industry that existed there in the past, that 
kind of thing.  If anyone knows of any such work, I'd be grateful to 
hear about it!
