I just got the Shochiku's wonderful new Hiroshi
Shimizu box set (volume one -- with English subtitles)
-- and am reminded that his "Arigato-san" deals quite
a bit with the hometown-Tokyo divide.
Shochiku really deserves three cheers for releasing
some prime Shimizu on DVD. I hope vols one and two
will sell well enough to persuade them to issue more
volumes.
