Kon Ichikawa 1915-2008

I see the Japanese newspapers are reporting the death of Kon Ichikawa. I suppose we can't be too grief-stricken as he was a very old man indeed, but I do feel rather sad about it. Along with Shindo, he was really the last major director of his generation.

  I don't have time to pay him proper tribute today, so can someone else do the honours?
