Kon Ichikawa 1915-2008

Ichikawa seems to havve been best known in the West
for his war films -- Burmese Harp and Fires on the
Plain and his documentary about the 1964 Tokyo
Olympics, Tokyo Olympiad. My favorite Ichikawa films,
however, are his (and Wada's) black comedies from the
1950s (and Burmese Harp).
