5. From the YIDFF Office
The rainy season has finally reached Yamagata.
Yamagata autumns are famous for imoni (a thick potato and meat soup),
but in summer "dashi" is delicious. It's an essential home-cooked
dish of finely chopped summer vegetables, used as a garnish for tofu
or other foods.
At first glance it appears somewhat bland and simple, but it's full
of the diverse flavors of summer.
The Yamagata International Documentary Film Festival also cooks up
simple and diverse flavors, so why not take a bite?
YIDFF News will be undergoing some changes from the next issue, so
stay tuned.
