I am passing this along for a friend.
I wonder if anyone can help in locating this film. 

The name of the film is "Uminoseimeisan" or "Pacific Ocean's Lifeline." NHK did a piece on it in the 80s or 90s, and brought the filmmaker into the studio and talked with him and showed clips...

I am trying to locate a high-quality (and rights-cleared) 
copy of a Japanese ethnographic film from the 1920s/30s, and I need 
someone who can track this down for me ASAP. (I need the footage 
within the next two weeks.) I'd really appreciate any referrals or 
suggestions...
