And I forgot, while I was thinking about Nakahara Shun, his comedic take on Twelve Angry Men, Twelve Gentle Japanese (Juuninin no yasashii Nihonjin, 1991).

a Confession (Han-ochi, ?????, 2003) is one that immediately springs to mind, and does Nakahara Shun's DV / Domestic Violence (2004) fit in with what you are looking for?
