Japanese Social Policies

To all KineJapaners:

     I've sent an email a month ago describing my thesis on the Japanese
family portrayed in film. I received a lot feedback on which specific family
films to watch ( films not for the family audience but are social
commentaries and/or focused around a Japanese family). I am now researching
on social, economic and political policies that modified the family
structure in Japan.

Do you recommend any books, journals, articles and people ( I live in New
York City) I should read about and interview?
