  This may not be what you have in mind, but there is an excellent discussion of Yokohama (along with harbors in general) in Ch. 1 "The Creation of Modern Space" in Mitsuyo Wada-Marciano's Nippon Modern : Japanese Cinema of the 1920s and 1930s, 2008, U. Hawaii, ISBN 978-0-8248-3240-7 [p.34ff]. 
 Well worth a read.
