Yes, but in the late fifties, movie attendance was about 10 times the
population (meaning that people went to the movies on average 10
times a year), so this is still very low compared to that (with the
average movie trip being once a year). It is also lower than 2004,
which had 170 million admissions. But it is better than the 1990s and
1980s, when the average was around 140 million, with a low of 119
million in 1996.
