Question about films Stills/lobby cards copyright and terms of use

I don't know about France, but in the US promotional material is free under
a fair use license, otherwise every movie review would just be bare text
because magazines and papers put as little money as possible into the art
sections.
You editor at the magazine should know what he/she can and can't use,
though. .
