Japan Film Series in the South (USA)

I noticed this announcement on H-Asia.
Surely some KineJapanners must be involved---or at least interested.
I'd be really curious to hear about the curatorial project. Why these  
film? Why these films together?
It's really wonderful to hear of Japanese cinema events beyond the  
usual venues.

   Japan Foundation Film Series in the South (until Mar 18)

Receiving enthusiastic reception in universities throughout the  
South, this series of five highly acclaimed films that are as diverse  
in style as in content, gives viewers a window onto the  
transformative world of Japanese film.

The films include "When a Woman Ascends the Stairs" (dir. Mikio  
Naruse, 1960), "Age of Assassins" (dir. Kihachi Okamoto, 1967),  
"Cure" (dir. Kiyoshi Kurosawa, 1997), "Postman Blues" (dir. Hiroyuki  
Tanaka, 1997), and "Mind Game" (dir. Yuasa Masaaki, 2004).
