What an amazing man -- but he only rates a paragraph or two at the Japan Times site. ;~}

For all his many accomplishments, I always _first_ think of him in connection with his flamethrower/lighter at the beginning of Ozu's Autumn of the Kohayagawa Family (End of Summer).
