If you've not already done so, I would take a look at the website of the Tokyo International Lesbian and Gay Film Festival which has screened numerous Japanese films with lesbian, gay, queer, transgender, etc. content and themes since its inception in 1993. The website of the Asian Queer Film Festival (2005- ) would be another place to look.

Best wishes,

Sarah Teasley

There are a number of films featuring "woman-woman" relationships: Kazama Shiori's Kasei no kanon, Shindo Kaze's Love/Juice, and of course the recent Kakera by Ando Momoko. Whether these are "lesbian" or not is an interesting question to pursue.
