Many thanks, Maria, for this, which can be carried to other discussions about how adept, or not, people are at detaching fictions from fact. And I read 'cool' in "A reporter of a local newspaper in Kochi told me that people there are showing a cool reaction to the NHK drama on grounds that it jars with historical facts.", as 'cool' in its earlier twentieth century meaning of unfavourable/underwhelmed, not as it is used at the top of the page in 'Cool Japan' !
