I am working on a deadline for my book, "The Last Silent Picture Show:
Silent Films on American Screens in the 1930s," to be published by Scarecrow.
One of the chapters deals with the showing of Asian silents in the US
during the '30s. Last night, while searching on Google, I came across an
article with the kind of information for which I've been searching, "The
Exhibition of Films for Japanese Americans in Los Angeles During the Silent Film
Era" by Junko Ogihara, published in "Film History" twenty years ago.
Unfortunately, I don't have the needed access to read or copy the article at:
_http://www.jstor.org/stable/3814993_ (http://www.jstor.org/stable/3814993) I
was not able to get the assistance I needed today from a colleague of my
acquaintance. If any kind soul at KineJapan has access to this article and
can send it in its entirety to me by e-mail ASAP, I will certainly include
you in my acknowledgments.
