Just for fun and not helpful for a film series probably, but last  
year's renja- (aka Power Rangers) series was Samurai Sentai  
Shinkenja.  The henshin process involves writing kanji with a sort of  
brush/pen/phone (Shodo phone) and spinning them around.  It's a cool  
graphic if nothing else.

And you can buy the Shodo Phone toy (as well as my favorite,  the  
"Sushi Changer," which doubles as a maguro nigiri and creator of  
origami mecha weapons).
