Lumiere Brothers Japan Footage

I should second Quentin's effort to be a party-poop. I recall from  
1995, when they had all those celebrations of the centennial of  
cinema in Japan, that the Lumiere organization was very insistent on  
their rights over the films and demanded payment for their use.

That said, I did want to mention that the DVD entitled The Lumiere  
Brothers' First Films put out by Kino does have one of the films shot  
by Gabriel Veyre, the Lumiere cameraman who went to Japan, featuring  
kendo practice.

I think the DVD is out of print, but you may be able to find it on  
the used market.
