Imamura, 1983. Ballad of Narayama (Mother and children)
Kurosawa, 1991. Rapsody in August (Mother and grand children)
Koreeda, 1998. After Life 

Plus one who's title I can't recall.  A young couple return from the city to live near one of their's mother in the country side. the mother lives in a small traditional house overlooking a garden
