One-off Kurosawa Hat Question

Kurosawa's "marine" cap looks very like a Meiji/Taisho student's cap [so might indeed be Germanic in origin...].  his "bucket" type soft hat with turned-down brim all round is still ubiquitous today, in a variety of fabrics, on both sexes over 50 and rather resembles a kibbutz hat.
