Symposium Announcement - SAVE THE DATE!

Title: "The Makino Collection at Columbia: the Present and Future of  
an Archive"

Date: Friday, November 11, 2011, 9:00am-5:45pm

Location: 403 Kent Hall, Columbia University, with a reception  
following in the Reading Room of C.V. Starr East Asian Library

Organizers: Paul Anderer, Jim Cheng, Hikari Hori, Beth Katzoff


The first daylong symposium on the Makino Mamoru Collection on the  
History of East Asian Film will examine research in the field of  
Japanese film studies emerging from the rich holdings of the Makino  
Collection. Renowned scholars in Japanese film studies will discuss  
their research and use of the Makino Collection, as well as potential  
future research opportunities it affords.  Scholars in Chinese and  
Korean film studies and from the Film Division in the School of the  
Arts will also discuss cross-regional and global opportunities for  
research using the Makino Collection.
