[KineJapan] The Dragon Painter -- Sessue Hayakawa

I finally saw The Dragon Painter (and Wrath of the Gods) thanks to Milestone's summer silents DVD sale.  I've read that (the incredibly bigoted) Wrath of the Gods was banned in Japan -- but haven't seen anything about the Japanese response to the much more appealing Dragon Painter.  Anyone know anything.
