I just wanted to draw the attention of UK-based Kinejapanners to the upcoming 35mm screening of PAGE OF MADNESS in London, on Sun 24 September 2017 18:00 – 20:30 BST, at Kings College.
This is the first time the film has shown in the UK for a very long time - I last saw it in Bristol back in 2005. I'm pretty certain it's the first time it will be shown here with a benshi.
The benshi in question is Tomoko Komura, and she'll "will be narrating the scenes and dialogue (in English) in real time". Clive Bell, Sylvia Hallett and Keiko Kitamura will provide a live score on the shakuhachi, piano and koto respectively.
There's a video introduction from Aaron Gerow prior to the screening, and I'm taking part in a panel discussion after with Pamela Hutchinson, Tomoko Komura, and director of the UCL Centre for the History of Psychological Disciplines, Professor Sonu Shamdasani.

It is certain to be a fun evening.

???An improbably delightful documentary about slime molds.... good-humored but not campy in its regard of some genuinely fascinating research, and full of trippy visuals",
