I only wish I could get tothis. I think we can take it that Aaron and Ichiro will organise a saneprojection speed (or speeds), in contrast to the manic 24 f.p.s. it was shownin London recently. I still have not managed to see this filmat any realistic speed. Part of the problem appears to be that, in the UK at least, it has become a vehicle for a backing topre-composed music, whose composition was matched to a DVD with sound trackturned down.

 Aaron is giving a talk on Page of Madness, which he wrote a wonderful book about. He’s the indisputed master of this film’s complex history. He will be appearing with benshi Kataoka Ichiro and live music. Kataoka’s setsumei is as thought provoking as Aaron’s take on the film. Both completely changed how I understood and appreciated the film. If you are in Tokyo, this is definitely worth checking out.
