I’ve been poking around Youtube to see how the new era name is being
received. Lots of strange videos. (Anyone looking for anquick essay topic?)

The interview clips in mainstream news are predictably polite. I wonder
what the discourse is like in real time. Anybody in Japan care to comment?

I got a kick out of the Japan Times video. It started with people watching
the official broadcast at the scramble crossing in Shibuya, then cut to a
guy standing there pondering the name in clear confusion and/or
disapproval.

But this nikoniko doga clip was the best:

The jokes came fast and furious.
