I thought some KineJapanners might want to know that I just uploaded a post on my blog about the new anthology (in Japanese) on Murakami Haruki.
Bunka hyosho toshite no Murakami Haruki (文化表象としての村上春樹 / Murakami Haruki as Cultural Representation) Seikyusha, 2020.
Covering a wide variety of perspectives, including a number that are critical, it was the fruit of the hard work of Ishida Hitoshi and Antonin Bechler, who first organized the symposium in France in March 2018 on which the anthology is based. I have an article in there on Murakami and cinema, and there are many exciting contributions by colleagues such as Stephen Dodd, Nakamura Miharu, Nonaka Jun, Giorgio Amitrano, Azusa Omura, Anne Bayard-Sakai, Fumiko Sugie, Gerald Peloux, Sugibuchi Yoichi, Sukegawa Yoichiro, and many others.
One of the four sections in the anthology is devoted to contributions discussing Murakami’s relation to cinema.
