The 2020 Agency for Cultural Affairs Film Awards were announced. In the bunka eiga (documentary) section, Kaori Sakagami's Prison Circle was awarded the grand prize. Meritorious service awards were given to filmmakers such as Yanagijima Katsumi (cinematographer for Kitano, etc.), Yamazaki Yutaka (cinematographer for Koreeda, Kawase, Shiota, et al.), Okada Yutaka (producer for Itami, Morita, etc.), and Koyama Akiko (animation colorist).
