This turned up when cleaning old files: My handwritten memo: "Miura was an unknown cameraman selected by a Sojin club of sorts to receive $1,000 from Sojin to go to Hollywood. See
Tokyo Asahi Shimbun 4/11 1928." This accompanied a Xerox copy of a clipping I dated 5/1 昭 from Tokyo Engei Shimbun with the headline パ社「蝶々夫人」の日本場面撮影に・三浦光雄技師招からand saying that the cameraman Mitsuo Miura for Yutaka Abe's "Modan Seisho" (Modern Bible) starring Tokihiko Okada, that was still in production has been sent for by Paramount for the Japanese scenes for "Madame Butterfly" that was in production, starring Gary Cooper and Sylvia Sydney. On the 30th of last month the party left for local filming at Kyoto, the Seto Inland Sea and Okayama. The group included someone from Paramount....
It was Cary Grant, of course, not Mr. Cooper!
