I finally found some time to write up an introduction to the publication last fall of the third in my series of reprints of prewar Japanese film theory/criticism journals at Yumani Shobo. This time the journal was Bunka Eiga Kenkyu, one of the primary venues for discussing documentary--and film realism--in the late 1930s. Do get your library to order it if you can.
