Tokyo Genzojo--a name one has seen in the credits of hundreds of Japanese films--will cease operations in November 2023. Founded in 1955 with investments from Toho, Daiei, and others, it first specialized in color film processing, handling everything from Ozu's color films to Toho tokusatsu movies. It eventually became a subsidiary of Toho and has focused on digital restorations and DCP production in the last decades. Its business will be taken over by other related companies.
