A friend that works with NHK World has told me that NHK is undergoing a
major shift regarding its relationship to international distribution, and
this seems to be the best evidence of it. He said the shift is driven by
their desire to collect data, broadcasting is out and streaming involving
clicking is in.

I don't know. Everything up to this point felt ill-conceived and never
worth the money. Doesn't sound that much worse!
