The Mainichi Film Awards were announced, with Sakamoto Junji's Sekai no Okiku winning best film. Tsukamoto Shin'ya's Hokage received the runner-up Excellence award. Suzuki Ryohei won best actor for Egoist, and Sugisaki Hana best actress for Ichiko. Ishii Yuya received the best director award for Tsuki. Yakushimaru Hiroko was given the Tanaka Kinuyo Award.

BTW, Sakamoto-san will be coming to Yale next academic year.
