[KineJapan] Matsumoto Toshio translation in JCMS

Hello KineJapaners,

Excuse the self-promotion, but I just found out my translation and
introduction to a 1960 article by Matsumoto Toshio has been published in
JCMS: https://muse.jhu.edu/pub/349/article/960483

The article highlights his antifascist stance and his concept of "aesthetic
sadomasochism." It's a perplexing but fun read, and quite teachable! If
anyone has trouble accessing the article, please reach out, and I've also
uploaded it to academia.edu. I've also included a reflection on translating

this week.

Also, for anyone in Europe this summer, I'll have book events to
promote *Antifascism and
the Avant-Garde* at the University of Leiden (June 16), the University of
Sheffield (June 19), London Goldsmiths (June 26), Ghent University (June
30), Penka Books (July 3) and ZfL in Berlin (July 8) and Filmuniversity
Babelsberg in Potsdam (July 10). It would be wonderful to see some of you
