Thanks for your reply Maria.
It would indeed be a disaster if the site were to disappear. I've been using it more or less daily for the past 25 years.
I wonder if there's a way of salvaging the data and preserving it as part of another site to avoid any possible loss in the future.
It is such an essential resource.

The website has been down for at least over a week now.
Some people were wondering in X too.
I seriously hope it is not going to disappear.
What would we do without it!
Despite its inaccuracies, the resource, as you mention, is invaluable and unparalleled.
