We had our first red admirals (Vanessa atalanta) here in our part of western
Oregon last weekend, Vanessa annabella (west coast lady) has been flying
for some weeks, along with
one of our anglewings, or commas, Polygonia satyrus. Celastrina ladon, our
version of your holly blue, has been flying, but is now joined by silvery
blues (Glaucopsyche lygdamus). We also found our first mylitta crescents
(Phycoides mylitta) and saw a very fresh anise swallowtail (Papilio zelicaon).
