Sorry to butt in here.  However, S. cynthia ricini is not North American.
It is basically a domesticated species (containing some genes from other
Samia sp. depending on where it is from) still cultivated in some countries
such as India and China. The species found in N. America and some
localities in Europe is still considered to be just plain old S. cynthia.
If you need slides of S. ricini I may be able to help.
