Try getting in touch with the Institute of Terrestrial Ecology at Monks
Wood; they co-ordinate the National Butterfly Monitoring Scheme, which
covers the whole of the region you're interested in. Their website is at
http://mwua.nmw.ac.uk/ite/monk/monk.html.
There is also a publication by Pollard & Yates: "Monitoring Butterflies
for Ecology & Conservation" (publ. Chapman & Hall) which includes past
BMS data.

Hope this is of some assistance,

Roger.
